Samy

Blessed…

I have friends.

Good ones.

Tonight Samy showed up to stay with me for the weekend.  She moved to Calgary about a year ago.  Before she left we bonded over a similar experience.  A tough experience.  When she left Vancouver my journey was already partially taken.  Her journey just starting.  She got out of the car tonight outside of my building and we hugged – two new women.   Women who have grown, worked, hurt, felt and came out the other end better than ever…

I was on my way to bed when Samy came to grab my spare set of keys.  She was on her way out for a little bit of Vancouver fun!  As she dropped off her suitcases and did a ten minute pre-catch up, she left she did two special things for me.

Both of which I will never forget.

1. She gave me a piece of herself.  She has become a successful artist and she brought a piece of her art for me.  A piece of herself really.  The woman in the picture is amazing.  I asked who she was.  She said a little me and a little you

Tears.

Good tears.  I tried to take a picture of her, this beauty, this creation of Samy’s.  My camera cannot do it justice so I wont post it here.  If it cannot be seen in its true glory, then it wont be seen.

2. I moved into a little bachelor suite over a year ago.  To live by the ocean and walking distance from work I gave up a lot of things.  Walls without paint chipping, modern appliances, new floors and clean that looks clean.  It was worth it to me.  I love my suite.  It is my haven.  My haven by the ocean.  My haven with my furry family.  I love it.  Everything in it feels like home.

Samy walked in and said “I love it.  It is so Zen.”

She got it.  The feeling I wanted from my home.

Peace.

And she got it before she saw the humungous picture of Buddha on my wall!

me myself and i

I have been enjoying ‘me’ time for the last few weeks.

Wandering the neighbourhood, reading, scouring Craigslist for deals and bargains, fixing up my bachelorette suite, visiting the ocean and spending time with my furry family.  I am happy just being home and quiet.

I hope when I come up for air that my friends haven’t forgotten me!  Keep inviting me guys, I will say yes again soon!

Oh, and before I go – a little secret.  NerdGirl has a dirty little secret.

Gossip Girl.

I know.

Embarassing.

 Im one lucky girl.

just try and guess …

who this might be?

go ahead, try!

sometimes it just all comes together nicely …

First of all –  I had a lovely Mother’s Day with the family.  We made mom cry – In the good way (I think) !  I slept overnight at mom’s on Sunday and it felt nice to get up this morning, get ready for work and walk upstairs to my mom making me breakfast.  Apparently you are never too old for a little ‘mom time’!

As you all know I moved a few months back into a bachelor suite near the ocean.  I love it.  Fifteen minute walk to work and the ocean.just.right.THERE!  Right there.  Just a few blocks away.  The ocean.  You know the one.  The OCEAN. =)

I bought myself a leather sofa that folds down into a couch.  It looks pretty, it is easy to fold down, it came at a good price but it just isn’t comfortable to sleep on long term.  A girl my age needs a firm mattress!  During a recent IKEA trip I noticed one of their living rooms set up for a bachelor suite that included a bed, end tables, dresser, couch and small desk and tv cabinet.  The space was quite a bit smaller than the space I currently rent.  Thus, I have been trolling Craigslist lately to see if I can find a good daybed or nice double bed that would look nice with my current furniture.  I’ve been making little drawings of the ‘perfect layout to Kelly’s bachelorette pad’ and dreaming about a proper mattress again (I could have stayed another few nights on mom’s comfy gues bed!)… so tonight – new ad up on Craigslist

IKEA platform frame in dark wood with new Sultana mattress – $100.00 – available last week of May!

Babing!

I emailed Noah

“Hi there, am interested in your bed.  I live at *** and *** and do not drive, are you nearby?”

Noah

“Funny thing – I live at *** and *** too!  Come on by and see it.  Here is my address **** **** Street.”

I throw on the jeans, walk outside to NEXT DOOR – thats right – the building right next door – ring the buzzer and take a peek at my new bed!  Done deal.

Like I said, some things are just meant to be!

Happy Monday blogging friends.  I hope you all had a great weekend!
